{"id":973,"date":"2015-02-04T10:30:38","date_gmt":"2015-02-04T15:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/status.nrao.edu\/?p=973"},"modified":"2016-07-18T06:33:39","modified_gmt":"2016-07-18T11:33:39","slug":"nrao-charlottesville-network-downtime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/status.nrao.edu\/?p=973","title":{"rendered":"NRAO (Charlottesville) Network Downtime &#8211; Resolved"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #009900; font-weight: bold;\">UPDATE: Feb 5, 2015 22:15 US\/EST<\/span>: All systems needing a reboot have been done; minor work remains on scattered cluster nodes, and two internal but non-critical servers.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #009900; font-weight: bold;\">UPDATE: Feb 5, 2015 21:00 US\/EST<\/span>: network maintenance has been done; cluster restoration and required reboots are in process.  public.nrao.edu is accessible.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #009900; font-weight: bold;\">UPDATE: Feb 5, 2015 19:26 US\/EST<\/span>: work on the Exchange Server has concluded.<\/p>\n<p>On <span style=\"color: #990000; font-weight: bold;\">Thursday, February 5<sup>th<\/sup>, 2015 between 7:00pm and 11:00pm <\/span>, the core network switch in the NRAO Charlottesville computer room will be down for necessary preventive maintenance.\u00a0 During this time, some (but not all) services operated out of Charlottesville may be inaccessible for some periods of time.\u00a0 We are using this opportunity to apply necessary reboots to several servers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The ALMA science helpdesk will <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span><\/em> be affected.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Exchange server will be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>minimally<\/em><\/span> affected (~15 minutes downtime).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Affected services (externally accessible):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><code>www.nrao.edu<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>science.nrao.edu<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>info.nrao.edu<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>public.nrao.edu<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>almascience.nrao.edu<\/code> <small>(but <code>almascience.eso.org<\/code> and <code>almascience.nao.ac.jp<\/code> unaffected)<\/small><\/li>\n<li><code>library.nrao.edu<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>find.nrao.edu<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>safe.nrao.edu<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>bos.nrao.edu<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>listmgr.nrao.edu<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many internal services will also be affected, including NAASC Cluster nodes, Lustre, Filer shares, Unix CV Mail Servers, Sharepoint, and a few others.<\/p>\n<p>We will make every effort to minimize the actual downtime, but please do not count on <em>anything<\/em> served from NRAO\/Charlottesville being accessible during this time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>\u00a0&#8211; Pat Murphy, Info Services Site Manager, NRAO\/Charlottesville.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UPDATE: Feb 5, 2015 22:15 US\/EST: All systems needing a reboot have been done; minor work remains on scattered cluster nodes, and two internal but non-critical servers.
