RESOLVED: Network Downtime for Charlottesville based Services

Downtime has concluded successfully.

A major network system upgrade will temporarily make most services based at NRAO/Charlottesville unavailable on Thursday, March 7th, 2019 from 19:00 to 21:00 US/EST. Affected services include but are not limited to:

  • public.nrao.edu
  • science.nrao.edu
  • help.almascience.org
  • help.nrao.edu
  • info.nrao.edu
  • safe.nrao.edu (including NRAO public wiki)
  • ssh inbound connections

NRAO Staff should refer to the allemploy downtime notice that was sent on Tuesday, March 5th at 5:18pm EST, for details of the internal services and systems affected by this preventive maintenance.

Systems not affected include telephone and voicemail, VPN, and video conference services.

RESOLVED: Access to/from NRAO/Charlottesville down

Updated 2019-02-06 11:20 US/EST: The outage has been resolved.

We are aware that internet traffic into and out of the Charlottesville offices of NRAO (including NAASC, the North American ALMA Science Center) is currently down. Internal inter-site traffic is not affected, nor is access to archive.nrao.edu. ALMA Science portal users should use the European or East Asian portals instead for now.
