NRAO Status

The University of Virginia has notified us that there will be a brief (~5 minutes or less) network outage between NRAO/Charlottesville and the internet:

• When: Wednesday, March 11, 2015; 11:00 PM US/EDT (2015-03-12 03:00 UT)
• What: network between NRAO and UVa – and hence the internet at large.
  • CV-GB and CV-NM WAN links will be unaffected.
    • High speed Internet tunnels between any site (GB, NM, JAO) and CV will be affected.  (If you don’t know what this means, you’re probably not using the tunnels).
  • GB internet access will be affected, other than for services using the new 10GB network link.
  • NM internet access will NOT be affected.
• Why: Software upgrade to UVa’s core router at Gilmer Hall

Due to the late night timing, and the expected briefness of the service outage, the vast majority of our users will be unaffected.
